State FCCLA Conference
The 2011 State FCCLA Conference was held in Lincoln April 5th, 6th and 7th.  Ashley Quick competed in Life Event Planning and was runner up with a Gold.  Kacey Horn competed in Illustrated Talk and received a silver.  Hannah Kesterson, Valerie Beraun, Bridget Ackerman, Hannah Wood, and Shelby Anderson competed in Parliamentary Procedure and received a bronze.  Bri Hoesing, Ellie Applegarth, and Shelby Ackerman competed in Applied Technology and received a silver.
Bri Hoesing served in her capacity as a State Officer and helped to plan the event as well as keep it running smoothly.  Ellie Applegarth was installed as a new State Officer.  Bri and Ellie were joined by Sydney Swanson, a 2009/2010 State Officer who judged STAR events and assisted the State Advisor backstage.
Mrs. Kloch, Alliance Advisor, attended BOD meetings, and served as a consultant for the regional meeting and the closing session.

Coats for Kids
FCCLA and Mrs. Brown's Advisory group collected over 70 Coats for Kids this year.  The Clothing and Textile class at the high school repaired and replaced zippers and helped in the process of washing coats.  The coats were distributed to the elementary schools, Headstart, adn the mission store.

PEER Ed Retreat: February 2011
Ellie Applegarth, Bridget Ackerman, Shelby Ackerman, Bri Hoesing, and Mrs. Cathy Kloch attended the PEER Ed Retreat in Kearney on February 27th & 28th.  On Sunday night, Bridget, Shelby and Bri attended STOP the Violence training to learn about actions that FCCLA can take to help stop bullying in the school.  On Monday, everyone attended sessions on PEER issues.  Ellie is a State Student Body team member and she helped to set up and run Monday's sessions.

FCCLA Members Competing in STAR
On January 17th, 11 FCCLA members competed in the District STAR contest.

The Parlimentary Procedure team:  Hannah Kesterson, Valerie Beraun, Hannah Wood, Bridget Ackerman, and Shelby Anderson won silver medals and will compete at the State FCCLA Star Contest.

The Applied Technology team:  Brianne Hoesing, Shelby Ackerman and Ellie Applegarth won gold medals and will compete at the State FCCLA STAR Contest.

The Life Planning Event team:  Haley Alvarado and Ashley Quick won gold medals and will compete at the State FCCLA STAR Contest.

Kacey Horn competed in Illustrated talk, won a gold medal and will compete at the State FCCLA STAR Contest.
